Maggie’s Brightside 2020
We have some BIG news to share with you. Since our founding, YOU have given us your love, support, time, and money. Thank you. As you know, our founder Maggie Van Duyn created the Maggie Card and had hoped to launch “The Lemons to Lemonade Fund” to financially support “bucket lists” for Vermonters living with cancer. Since her death, we have had the honor of keeping Maggie’s dream alive. The Maggie Card has grown, and although we have not been able to launch a “Lemonade” fund, we have kept it in sight. We have also learned a lot about the limitations of what one small non-profit can do.
That said, we are announcing an organizational change. Over the next few 6 weeks we will be transitioning our primary program, and distributing our funds.
What does that mean? Well it means that …
1- The Maggie Card will have a new home The Cancer Patient Support Foundation (CPSFVT).
2- Mahana Magic will be launching Maggie’s Memory Fund in the fall/winter. This fund will be similar to the “Lemonade Fund” Maggie dreamt of!
Both of these local organizations are well established in Vermont and are positioned to help these programs grow. And while we will keep our website, Maggie’s blogs, and our social media alive, Maggie’s Brightside will no longer exist as a nonprofit 501c3. However, we will keep you updated and connected to the transition of the CPSF Maggie Card, and Mahana Magic’s Maggie Fund!
Although this decision has been hard for us, we know it is the right one to keep Maggie’s legacy alive & thriving. We are so grateful for the support and love you have shown us over the years. Thank you for keeping us going and stay tuned for more details about our next steps!
